Live listening session with John Kitime (ENG): Tanzanian musician John Kitime opens his private musical archive and takes us on a special sonic journey. Since 1968, he has been collecting music from the period before, during and after Tanzanian independence. Using records, cassettes and personal insights, he takes us on a musical journey through the history of Tanzanian independence.
About him: John Kitime is a musician, guitarist and vocalist from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Since 1999, he has performed with a number of bands in the country. He is a member of a band called the Kilimanjaro Band. He is well-known for playing the electric guitar. He is part of a duo group called Wahenga, with his friend Anania Ngoliga is the other member of the group.
