This workshop explores the political power of music - in the context of colonial oppression as well as today. About its echo in Conscious Rap, its traces in everyday life, its call for justice. Sound is not neutral. Sound is awakening.
In joint listening sessions, we approach the question: Which beats and sounds accompanied and fueled active resistance? What characterizes this music? Who is speaking here, with what message - and what does it stand for? Participants are invited to listen, analyze, feel - and be inspired by it.
Based on this, they will develop their own "resistance beat": What would be their personal sound of resistance? What strengthens them, what makes them express themselves, what demands change?
In the next step, the workshop opens up space for personal exchange on experiences with resistance, empowerment and activism in the public sphere. Together we will ask: Where are colonial continuities, power imbalances, oppressive structures and social injustices evident today? How do we experience and practice resilience? Which stories do we want to make audible - and what should finally be heard?
Through creative experimentation and collective reflection - with or without previous musical experience - we will also reflect on the role of the music industry in neo-colonial power relations.
